Newsletter 26 2015/16

I hope you all had an enjoyable Easter break. The children have been enjoying their first week back, especially as the weather has been (mostly!) fantastic and they have been able to spend their breaktimes on the field and Key Stage 1 playground playing across year groups and enjoying the space. On our INSET day earlier this week, the staff had training from Michael Follett (Opal Outdoor Play and Learning). He has been working closely with us to support us in the developing our play offer to the children. The aim is to provide the children with a more varied and rich play experience so that they develop their ‘unteachable’ skills such as cooperation, resilience, perseverance, creativity, problem solving etc. This project will continue to be funded by PTA fundraising and we will launch it on Magic Monday next week! The children will be given extra time outside on Monday (weather permitting!) to explore and play with a host of new resources that we have collected and bought. I will tell you more about it next week but please ask your children to tell you more about it themselves. We will also arrange an opportunity for you to experience our play-times with the children and hear more about the exciting initiative.
