Newsletter No.15 2015/16

We had an extremely busy week to end the term with class parties, Christmas jumpers, visits from Santa Claus and lots of fun activities for the children. The highlight for me were the Carol Concerts and I am sure that those of you that were in attendance agree. The children performed the carols beautifully both at school and at the Church. Thank you for supporting us in making these events a joyful yet poignant reminder of why this season is so important to our Catholic faith.

Today, some children were awarded certificates to recognise their consideration for others, consistent effort and attendance. I have also awarded one child from each year group a ’Headteacher’s Award’ which recognises that through their words and deeds, they are examples of the virtues we try to promote in our children. Well done to all of the children that received a certificate.

Over the Christmas holidays, please keep an eye on our website, which will be re-launched! We hope it will pro-vide a more modern site that will be usable on all devices. Please let me know what you think. There will also be an online calendar facility that you will be able to link with your smartphone so that key school dates will be sent to your phone calendar and notifications of new dates and date changes will be updated automatically.

The summaries of your parent surveys and the childrens’ surveys will be available on the new website. Once again, we had an excellent response rate and your feedback was reassuringly positive — thank you for your continued support! If you do have any specific concerns about any aspect of school life, please get in touch with me.

I am sad to inform you that Miss Hancock will be leaving us today. She is returning home to New Zealand after spending a year teaching at Saint Michael’s. I would like to thank her for all of her dedication and hard work and wish her all the best for her future. She will be sure to keep in touch with us from across the world.

As some of you may be aware, my wife and I are expecting our second child over the Christmas holidays so, all being well, I will be on paternity leave after Christmas. I will leave you in the capable hands of Miss Knipe and the Senior Leadership Team. Once again, have a happy, holy, joyful and peaceful Christmas break. Mr Lane
